Bulgaria Ski Holiday
About Borovets
Borovets is a great place to get started on skis – think easy-to-reach nursery slopes and long green runs. Ready for more? Check out the reds that wind through the trees higher up or make a beeline for the Borosport Snow Park to play on jumps and boxes. Whatever your level, you’ll be able to rack up the piste time without straining the bank balance thanks to ski lessons and lift passes that cost less than elsewhere in Europe.
There’s a lively atmosphere down in the village, with bustling lunch spots where can grab a bite to eat by the slopes. Venture towards the resort centre and the streets are lined with clubs where you can dance ‘til dawn. Or to experience a slice of Bulgarian culture, pop into one of the wood-framed mehanas – a traditional Balkan pub. As for picking a hotel, you can choose from some quality stays with great facilities, for a price that’s hard to beat.
When you’re not skiing or après-ing, swing by the Hotel Samokov to see who can get the most strikes at the bowling alley. Fancy some more outdoorsy fun? Saddle up and ride a horse through the forest.

Accommodation
Getting to the slopes is quick and easy from here, as the Yastrebets I gondola's close by – or, if you walk a little further, there are two chairlifts you can hop on that'll whisk you off to discover more runs in the Sitnyakovo area. Iceberg’s close to the centre too, so a wander to explore the town’s bars and shops is definitely on the table.
When you’ve finished on the mountain for the day, Iceberg has a couple of ways for you to relax. If getting together to swap ski stories over a drink’s your style, the hotel bar awaits, but for a more mellow après experience, the pool might be the place. There's also a fitness room for those who like to keep active while off the slopes or want to stick to their usual gym routine.
Breakfasts kick the day off with a hot and cold buffet, so you can sample some local meats and cheeses or fill up and warm up before heading out with some sausage and eggs. You’ve the option of upgrading to half board here too, which means 3-course evening meals each evening.
