    Grand Mound, Washington was founded in 1851 by Jotham Weeks Judson, the father of future pioneer and author Phoebe Judson. As a census-designated place (CDP) in Thurston County, Grand Mound possesses a settled population that is not legally incorporated as a town or city under Washington state laws. CDPs include small rural communities, which precisely describes Grand Mound with a population scratching 3,000.

    While the community itself does not necessarily have any attractions, towns like Centralia are within close vicinity. But the real star is Washington State’s natural beauty, which is well within driving distance and includes such historic places as Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier National Park and the Pacific beaches.
