    The City

While not your typical "city," the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania were divided into five regions for simplicity. Spanning the Mountain Region, Lake Region, Delaware River Region, Upper Delaware River Region, and Lehigh River Gorge Region, the Mountains have emerged as one of the northeast's most frequented vacation destinations.

Philadelphia Quakers initially began the onslaught of interested vacationers when they constructed the Buck Hill Falls, Pocono Manor, and Skytop resorts in the early 20th century. Since then the Poconos have remained quite popular for their wealth of natural beauty and outdoors recreations.

Visitors thusly enjoy their choice of six natural areas, seven state parks, 17 state game lands, and one national park. Take your pick from watersports, fishing, hunting, and more. White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, ruffed grouse, and other wildlife thrive in the area.

    Do & See

Pocono Mountain outdoor activities are available year round, making it a favorite vacation spot. Fishing and hunting remain its most popular activities. However, there is something for every nature enthusiast.

    Dining

The Pocono Mountains cross into four Pennsylvania counties, so you know that the restaurant offerings are many and varied. Enjoy your meal with views of the snow-capped mountains, or on the shores of one of the many area lakes. Cuisine ranges from the offerings of casual diners and quaint bistros, to those of fine dining establishments.

    Cafes

Each coffee shop, bakery, and diner has its own unique personality. Selections will vary greatly from one location to the next, so trying something new is never hard to do. Some locations are more elegant and sophisticated while others are more quaint and, at times, kitschy.
